I'm just hoping it's not really corny :/ Fantasy always seems to get really BAD on tv and mauls books. (Legend of the Seeker? Yeah, I'm looking at you).

Legend of the Seeker could have been worse and been another mouthpiece for Goodkind to felate Ayn Rand and her pseudophilosophy.

That is true.. However you need to remember that Thrones is being done by HBO, who have a tremendous track record when it comes to tv shows.
Where as LotS was made by the producers of Hercules and Xena... plus the fact that Terry Goodkind is a crappy writer in the first place... equals out to destined fail. And you don't even need a confessor to make you "love her a lot" or a Seeker who will "get really angry" to get the truth.
